Jesus talked about money more than anything else recorded. He knew the power it could have over our lives. He even let us know in Matthew Chapter 6 during His most famous sermon that “our heart will follow our treasure”. This is why there is so much emotion around our finances. What Jesus is saying is that a little bit of our heart is following every transaction that we make from our bank account.

We have a tendency to let money take God’s place in our lives by trusting it to do for us what only God can do. Generosity is the remedy for this because it prioritizes God over money in our hearts. You can’t worship what you give away, but you can worship with what you give away.
